THE mayor of Calvia, Alfonso Rodriguez, met with the President of the Melia Hotel Group, Gabriel Escarrer, to analyse the company’s development in the town.
The image of the area, especially Magaluf, which concerns both the town hall and the hotel group, was discussed, and Escarrer said Melia is doing everything it can to improve its public image and attract a better class of tourist.
It was agreed that channels of communication would be established to help the company with its efforts by promoting family and sports tourism, amongst others, as well as prolonging the tourist season, which in turn will create more jobs.
The mayor promised that works on Magaluf seafront promenade would be finished this winter and that the town hall would invest in improving local infrastructures.
