THE number of unemployed in the municipality of Teulada-Moraira has declined during the month of July thanks to the jobs created during the summer period. According to data published by the Public State Employment Service (SEPE), a total of 492 people found jobs last month with 519 persons still registered as unemployed in the municipality.
The councillor of Training and Employment, Nieves Rodriguez, noted the data is more positive compared to 2004, in which the total number of unemployed stood at 566.
The mayor highlighted the increase of new jobs registered from January until the end of July, a total of 331, although most of the contracts are within the service sector, which tends to rise noticeably in the summer thanks to temporary contracts. In contrast, the construction sector continues to suffer with 21 fewer contracts awarded this year.
