‘Serious consequences’ could result in Imserso delay

IMSERSO: Costa Blanca's tourism trade relies on the scheme throughout the winter

HOSBEC, the hotel employers of the Costa Blanca, has warned of “serious consequences” that may result in a delay being experienced in the implementation of the Imserso pensioner holiday programme which offers discounted breaks during the winter.

They said the sector is concerned about hiring the necessary services and a delay can result in the uncertainty of users.

Delays have arisen due to the delays in awarding the tender and subsequent appeals filed by some of the companies that were not selected for participation, but HOSBEC said: “These incidents should not affect the timetable for accreditation, contracting and selling, as many positions of work depend on this programme.” They added: “Without this programme many facilities are forced to close during the winter.”

They complain that there is no information on other components of the package tours such as transportation or excursions, and the date from when people can apply for the discounted breaks has not yet been set.
