HIT-AND-RUN: Victim’s bicycle after the accident
A HIT-AND-RUN driver, 28, was arrested in Nijar after seriously injuring a cyclist.
The victim, a Malian aged 15, was run over in the early morning on the Calvo de Campohermoso road and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Torrecardenas unit.
The Guardia Civil’s Investigation and Traffic Analysis unit (GIAT) scoured the immediate area and examined the damaged bicycle. Knowing only the make and colour of the vehicle that caused the accident, officers finally located the car parked in a Nijar street.
It matched the information they had been given and had clearly been involved in an accident, the Guardia Civil said. The owner was arrested and released after being charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failing to notify the authorities of the accident and disregarding his obligation to assist the victim.
