Police officer in Torremolinos was saved by his bullet-proof vest

A POLICE officer in Torremolinos was saved from serious injury last weekend by his bullet-proof vest when a young man tried to stab him in the stomach.

A National Police patrol was called to a home in the town by an 061 ambulance team which had answered a call from a woman seeking medical help for her son.

Upon arrival at the home the officers found a young man had locked himself in his bedroom, and when they managed to get the door open he attacked them with a knife.

Eventually the officers managed to subdue the young man, who was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
