THE investigative actions of Marbella’s Local Police have now confirmed who is guilty of the many accidents registered in a particular area of the city.

The measures put forward by the city council are now being fruitful as the local government reported they now have enough evidence to confirm that the oil stains left on many occasions in the curve at Avenida Canovas del Castillo, which have caused a large number of motorbike accidents, are being caused by urban buses managed by company Portillo.

The city’s fire brigade had already claimed that it was these buses which, when traversing through this road and due to the slope, would lose oil and leave a dangerous stain while at it.

Local Police stopped one of the Portillo buses on Thursday (September 3), after noticing the leak of oil. One of the company’s representatives attended the area and explained that it is possible some of the models could spill over oil when driving uphill.

The Town Council has filed an official report against Portillo and announced that from now on, any accidents caused by oil in the area will be considered a direct responsibility of the company.

Before this, the local government had had to launch new measures such as reducing the speed limit to 30km per hour in the area and placing a sign which alerted to a slippery road, to avoid new accidents.

On the other hand, Portillo has committed to changing the bus model which is creating the issue.
