A MAN was lucky to get away with minor injuries after having to be cut out of the wreckage of the car he was travelling in when it careered into a palm tree on Friday August 28, on the Swamp Road in Elche.

The car, in which he was the passenger in the rear seat, turned over when it hit a palm tree around 7.30am, and he became wedged between the front seats to such a degree that members of the local fire station had to cut the roof off before they could extract him from the vehicle. An ambulance then took him to hospital suffering from chest trauma.

The other two occupants were treated for facial trauma and several bruises.
