THE Torremolinos Council will change the Civil Marriage Ordinance to be able to issue name presentation and social welcoming ceremonies for children starting this November.
As people choose to get married in a register office as opposed to the Church, they can now also choose to have their children baptised by civil ceremony without the religious aspect involved.
At the end of the event, the child will receive a diploma and a child-friendly version of the Spanish Constitution. A nameplate with the child’s name and birth date will also be placed on one of the town’s trees that will eventually be turned into a botanical garden.
