THE total number of road victims so far this year is 727, 2 per cent less than the same period of 2014.
However, during the summer months of July and August, 224 have died across Spanish roads, five more than the previous year according to the information released by the DGT Traffic Authorities.
The report shows that Catalonia, the Basque Country, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia and Cantabria were the regions where the total number of road victims increased the most. Specifically, in Catalonia there were 19 more victims, the same figure as the Basque Country.
On the opposite side, Andalucia, Aragon, the Valencian Community, Extremadura and Navarra registered significant reductions on the total victims if compared with 2014.
Month-to-month wise, there were six more deaths in July and one less in August. July saw 104 mortal accidents where 113 died, while in August 96 accidents were registered and 112 people died.
