Javea says goodbye to local volunteer

‘WITH much regret we have to inform you that Audrey passed away on Friday August 28, aged 93 years.

Audrey was a volunteer for The Original Charity Shop and Library for more than 23 years and worked as Cashier on Wednesdays and Saturdays until just a few weeks ago.

She was born in London and grew up and worked in various parts of England before coming to Spain. During the war she was a driver and she also did some modelling work before deciding on the restaurant business.

She spent 14 years in Lanzarote where she ran two restaurants (even entertaining Omar Sharif on one occasion) before settling in Javea where she ran the El Horno restaurant until she retired.

Rest in peace, Audrey, and thank you from staff and customers for the hard work put in over the years. We will all miss you very much.’
