A MAN has been arrested twice in one week for allegedly stealing gardening material from various country properties in Cartagena, the Guardia Civil has reported.
Investigations began after an increased number of thefts of gardening material, especially irrigation hoses, were reported in the area, leading to officers discreetly keeping an eye on property they suspected could be targeted.
On August 21, officers surprised a 21-year-old local man with a previous record for similar offences trying to remove 3,000 metres of hose from a private property and arrested him.
Investigations continued and the following Monday they discovered the alleged thief could also be behind two more reported cases, leading them to once again arrest him.
During the second arrest 12,000 metres of hose were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
