Organic food awaits the discerning diner at The Farm in the Old Town of Marbella

THE FARM: The menu is packed with quality produce and provides ‘Honest Food.’

ONE RESTAURANT with two distinctive names offers extremely good food in classic surroundings.

Originally named El Pozo Viejo and also newly known as The Farm this restaurant is now owned and run by a dynamic young couple, Maria and Elio who have settled in Marbella following a number of years travelling around Europe and the Middle East.

The owners combine a passion for cuisine, design and travel and with backgrounds from Spain and Argentina they are determined to bring these enthusiasms to their restaurant.

They have studied the history of the building which dates back to 1502 and was the home of the city’s first Commander.

In the secluded yet airy courtyard which also houses the restaurant bar, one can find the original well, which, according to neighbours, supplied drinking water to the neighborhood, hence the former name of El Pozo Viejo restaurant.

This young but enthusiastic couple undertook all of the renovations including the restoration of the interior, construction of furniture and the rehabilitation of the courtyard which is now a Magic Garden themselves.

You can enjoy their perfect menu on three levels from al fresco dining on Altamirano Square, to the sympathetically restored indoor room, to the historic secret garden where you are greeted with boxes full of freshly harvested local fruits and vegetables. What’s more – and they are not on the menu – is a family of beautiful rabbits, including one tiny kit (the proper name for a baby bunny).

The menu is packed with quality produce and lives up to their catchphrase ‘Honest Food’ with a daily tasting menu as well as the a la carte option. Also, much of the food, including their delicious organic paella is cooked on olive wood.

If that is not enough, the restaurant at Plaza Altamirano, 3, 29601 Marbella, Málaga, Spain has been awarded the certificate of excellence 2015 on TripAdvisor. With Flamenco shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday plus regular additional quality entertainment, more likely to be in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club than a Diana Ross, you are encouraged to check their website www.elpozoviejo.com, follow them on Facebook or call 952 82 25 57 to make a reservation.
