MALAGA Provincial Government has announced that requirements for town halls to get money from the emergency fund will be stricter.
Councils in severe need of financial aid will have to make plans to adjust and reduce spending before being eligible to receive funds.
The provincial government wants help to go towards solving towns’ problems and not towards covering “political or opportunist aims” the spokeswoman, Francisca Caracuel, said.
The emergency fund, which was approved last month, has €1.5 million in total to help towns with serious financial problems which in turn prevent them from getting other grants from the public administration.
Caracuel also said that the provincial government would make sure that towns which received aid put it towards the needs it was planned for.
