An innovative promotion by Teulada- Moraira has been seen by millions of people.
The small Marina Alta resort had big ideas for the Vuelta España race when it passed through the town on Stage Nine of the gruelling annual clash of cyclists. They had set off from Torrevieja, covering the 168.3 kilometres to Benitachell.
A captive audience of millions in 190 countries saw a giant mosaic of 650 umbrellas that spelled out the name Teulada-Moraira. Below it was a large bicycle whose wheels appeared to be turning in a stunt that was broadcast worldwide by the RTVE helicopter following the race.
The world famous event began on Saturday August 22 in Marbella and will finish on Sunday September 13 in Alcala de Henares (Madrid).
