HELP helping the Franciscan brothers shelter for homeless men

GANDIA SHELTER: Candy Wright of HELP with shelter residents.

HELP of Denia and Marina Alta president, Candy Wright, recently visited the Franciscan Brotherhood in Gandia.

The Franciscan Brothers run a shelter for homeless men and HELP have provided several single flat-pack wardrobes with drawers for the residents to use.

At present these men only have chairs on which to hang their clothes and keep any personal items they might have.

To assist them a little further HELP provided sets of wooden coat hangers so that the wardrobes would be suitably equipped.

Candy also took along a large bag of medication. This had been donated by HELP members and the general public and was first sorted and checked to ensure that the medication was not out of date and was fit for use.

Over the last three years HELP has held its annual Charity Golf Tournament at Oliva Nova Golf Club. Residents in the Oliva and Gandia area have been generous in their support and HELP felt it was only fitting to give back something to a cause that is based in their area.

HELP already has a history of assisting the shelter and its residents and hopes to continue doing so in the future along with other charities in the area.

Readers wishing to know more about HELP or who feel they would like to be part of the organisation should visit their web site www.helpofdenia.com or their Facebook page, Help of DAMA.
