FIESTA NEIGBOURHOOD: La Cala del Moral.

GASTRONOMY, culture and tradition will become one in ‘Cala Mediterranea’ – an event hosted by Rincon de la Victoria neighbourhood La Cala del Moral.

This eclectic event is to be held between September 3 and 6 at the Plaza Gloria Fuertes and, as councillor in charge Pedro Fernandez Ibar explained, will be a unique and pioneering experience, with the goal of highlighting traditional cuisine, made with local products, as well as boosting the local economy at the same time.

On offer will be as many as 300 tasters of ‘Pimento Caleño’ a typical dish with its roots in the fishing past of the town, made with potatoes, peppers, clams and anchovies. Gazpacho, hot chocolate and borrachuelos (a typical sweet pastry) will be also offered.

The event is the brainchild of the Cultural Circle Bezmiliana, Animate a Bailar, Rincon Contigo, Cultural Association Estrella del Alba, La Cala del Moral Neighbourhood Association, and charity association Al Quds.

Beyond the delicious food on show, La Sala Las Musas will be home to performances by RIFAK (oriental music and Al-Andalus-themed pieces) as well as Cantica Cuarteto, with songs inspired by Spanish-born poet Federico Garcia Lorca.

In addition, there will be poetry readings, photography exhibitions, and many other must-sees, in an event which is being put on at a cost of more than €5,000.
