Llucmajor’s ancient documents left unprotected

THE new team in office in Llucmajor council has requested help from Mallorca Provincial Government to restore the local archives which are reportedly in a sorry state.

There are 15th and 16th century documents piled up without protection and other texts of great historical value in boxes on the floor in danger of getting damp.

The mayor, Jaume Tomas, and councillor for Culture, Adelina Gutierrez, showed the archives, which were on the top floor of the town hall with no proper light, humidity or temperature conditions, to the press. The aim is to move it to the Sant Bonaventura Cloister.
