POLICE in London are searching for the person who shot a three-year-old girl in the stomach with an air rifle in a London park.

The toddler was in Hanworth Park, Feltham, with her mother and granddad around 6pm on Thursday last week (August 20), when a shot rang out. The girl cried out, and the family realised she’d been hit when they saw she was bleeding.

She was rushed to hospital, where surgery removed an air rifle pellet from her stomach. She is now reported to be recovering well.

Police made a public call for information a week later, on Thursday August 27, when they failed to find any trace of the shooter despite searches using police dogs and CCTV.

Detective Constable Helen Larson said: “This was a horrific incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.

“This shooting could have been far worse, possibly fatal and we need to find the person or persons responsible.”

Investigators ask anyone with relevant information to contact DC Larson at Hounslow CID on (+44) 20 8247 6160 or 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (900 555 111 from Spain).
