‘Gag law’ fine scrapped for Facebook snap of police car in Petrer

AN OFFICIAL has scrapped the €800 fine handed to a woman whose Facebook picture of an illegally parked police car in Petrer, accompanied by some strong language, was initially deemed to have broken the new security legislation known as the ‘gag law.’

A central government representative in Alicante has wiped the fine, saying her action did not contravene the law, “it was just a picture of a vehicle that was published.”

Officers responded to the woman’s post, saying they had been rushing to respond to a report of people vandalising a nearby park.

  1. Good to see common sense, just a shame that there wasn’t someone with the same to oversee all the other daft things that the Police and town halls put people through in other coastal regions when they shouldn’t be.
