Velez-Malaga golf course project gets in the swing

CONSTRUCTION work on a new road that would access a future golf course in Velez-Malaga has been given the green light.

This new golf course, called Juvigolf, to be constructed in Chilches, would be the third in the Axarquia region, together with the ones in Añoreta (Rincon de la Victoria) and Baviera Golf (Caleta de Velez).

The project has already received approval from the Junta de Andalucia regional government and now the town council is designing plans to create a new road to connect the course with the road A-7 and the old N-340.

Mayor of the town, Antonio Moreno Ferrer, told Spanish daily SUR, that the new road would run from the roundabout that separates Rincon de la Victoria and Chilches, parallel to the Mercadona.

The Juvigolf course will see an investment of up to €300 million, from a private source, for the creation of an 18-hole course, 1,534 homes, out of which 460 will be subsidised, a four-star hotel, restaurants and sports facilities, amongst other amenities.

It is expected this golf course will be ready to open between 2020 and 2025, and the town council will see a €7.5 million profit from its development.
