A BLACK female dog was found wandering on a road near Santa Maria de Nieva cemetery and reservoir on August 11.
Concerned about the animal, a kind lady took the dog in and took her to a Huercal Overa vet, who confirmed that she was about 18 months old and bore a chip.
Records revealed that the dog’s chip had been put in in Granada, a long way from Huercal Overa.
The dog is reported to be very friendly, well-behaved and used to cars, obviously well looked after with a beautiful coat, suggesting she had not been away from her owners for long.
Police investigated and managed to track down the woman in Granada who had her chipped, who explained that she had given the dog, registered as Roxie, to a French woman from Mojacar but said she had no contact details for the woman.
While the lady currently caring for Roxie is happy to do so temporarily she is unable to keep her permanently and has asked for help answering various questions about ‘Roxie.’ Was she dumped in the quiet village or was she visiting with her owner and wandered off or got lost? Why has nobody been looking for her? And if her name is Roxie, why doesn’t she answer to it?
Anyone who recognises the dog or has information is asked to contact 617 065 565.
