Update: Suspected Mijas Costa arsonist released with charges

A WOMAN arrested last week suspected of being behind at least seven fires in Riviera del Sol, Mijas Costa, has been charged and released by a Fuengirola court.

The middle-aged woman with initials MCV, originally from Madrid, was surprised by Guardia Civil officers allegedly setting fire to scrub with a cigarette lighter, but denied the accusations before the judge.

She has been ordered to present herself at the courts periodically.

Woman arrested over Mijas Costa fires

A WOMAN has been arrested suspected of being behind recent fires in the upper area of Riviera del Sol, Mijas Costa.

Guardia Civil investigators had been hunting for a grey car various witnesses had reported seeing leaving the area after fires started, and caught her by the scene of the ninth blaze which hit the area on Friday (August 14) leading to a number of homes being evacuated.
