‘Man bag’ battle on easyJet flight ends when police Taser passenger

A PASSENGER was reportedly Tasered by police on board an easyJet flight from Gatwick to Belfast on Thursday morning (August 20). Officers boarded the plane and tackled the man before take off at 8am, after an argument over luggage got out of hand.

It’s believed the passenger wanted to bring aboard two items of carry on luggage, one of which was a small ‘man bag.’

A spokesperson for the local police force in Sussex said: “A man is in police custody after being Tasered on an aircraft waiting to depart from Gatwick airport to Belfast on Thursday morning.

“Police officers were called to the easyJet flight shortly after 8am to reports of a passenger who was becoming increasingly abusive following a dispute over luggage.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace.”

A spokesperson for the budget airline said the company’s staff would not “tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board.”

Other passengers were disembarked from the aircraft after the incident and the flight was delayed by several hours while police took witness statements.
