AN EIGHTY-SEVEN-year-old man from La Cala de Mijas may face a hefty fine for growing marihuana after police officers went calling on his country home.Following a tip-off, plain clothes Local Police officers visited the rural property and were surprised to find 29 marihuana plants, some of which were more than two metres tall.Although the elderly man’s wife, son, daughter in law and grandson were also present, the 87-year-old quickly told officers he was responsible for the crops.The police force reported that the man was not arrested but the matter has been placed in the hands of a court, and although he will not be jailed due to his age, the man could face an extremely heavy fine for growing forbidden substances.
