HEALTH TREATMENT: Guarantee Fund Assistance is still not operational.

THE Valencian Government is still waiting for reimbursement of the cost of medical treatment for domestic tourists.
Minister for Universal Health and Public Health, Carmen Monton, said the cost of treatment for Spaniards from outside the Valencia Region was more than €70million last year.
The Minister has called on the Central Government to initiate immediately the Guarantee Fund Assistance (Foga) which was approved in 2012 to offset this expense, but it is still not operational.
The Minister criticised this “financial exclusion” by the Central Government. Monton said: “On the one hand, the Government submits the Community to extreme underfunding and secondly, blocks the settlement of funds that are ours.”
