FIESTA season has taken a tragic toll over the weekend, with four men killed in bull-running incidents. The deaths bring the total number killed this summer in Spain after being gored by bulls to nine.
In Lerin, Navarra, 29-year-old Miguel Ruiz Pérez was the victim of a fatal injury to his stomach on Sunday evening (August 16).
On the Saturday morning bull-run in Peñafiel, Castilla y Leon, Jose Alberto Peñas, a 36-year-old local councillor, died after being repeatedly gored. Video footage appears to show him falling as he pushes another man out of the way of the bull’s horns.
On Friday evening in Museros, Valencia, a 32-year-old died, while Friday’s first victim was a man who died in hospital in the morning in Blanca, Murcia. Rafael Ibáñez Miñano had sustained fatal injuries the night before.
