UPDATE: Mum charged as Coin mourns three-year-old boy

THE mother of a three-year-old boy who died in Coin on Wednesday (August 12) has been charged with manslaughter through severe negligence and temporarily released by a judge.

The judge at Coin’s number one court allowed the mother, who refused to declare, to leave after confiscating her passport and ordering her not to leave the country and to present herself at the court every week.

A day of official mourning was declared in Coin and the day’s fair celebrations suspended on Wednesday after the boy fell from his bedroom window and died.

Although emergency services rushed to the scene they could do nothing to save the child’s life and he was pronounced dead at 12.45pm, an hour after he fell more than nine metres from the window onto an inner patio in the block of flats on Calle Manuel Garcia where he lived.

Post-mortem examination results are pending as investigations into the event continue.
