HAILSTONES caused more than €3 million of damage in the Vinalopo and El Comtat districts.
Olives, almonds, grapes, apples and vegetables were affected as well as roofs, irrigation channels, vehicles and infrastructure in the inland area between Beneixama, Banyeres, Bocairent, Valleta de Agres and Muro.
Beneixama and Muro town halls are likely to ask for the zone to be declared a disaster area. “No-one had ever seen anything like it,” said Muro mayor, Francesc Valls.
