Expat champion Dave Bull joins Samaritans in Spain as local patron

THE Samaritans in Spain have announced Costa Blanca writer and radio presenter Dave Bull as their new patron.

Originally from Brighton, Dave (48) arrived in Spain in the year 2000, and has written hilarious books on life as an expat. The first one, It Just Is…, was published in 2011, and Load of Bull followed up in 2013. The established journalist founded the magazine All Abroad, which he continues to edit. Dave is also a popular DJ on local radio station Costa Blanca FM’s breakfast show.

President of the Samaritans in Spain, Ed Purcell, said he was “delighted and grateful that Dave has accepted the role.” CEO Lynda Brettle added: “Dave’s media presence will enable us to enhance our campaign to spread awareness of the services we offer.”

Dave said he was “honoured” to become patron of the Samaritans in Spain.

But Dave is not the only new member of the team the charity is seeking to recruit. A spokesperson said:

“Samaritans in Spain is constantly evolving and expanding and to ensure the long term sustainability of the organisation we are always looking for new volunteers to join us, whether for fundraising, charity shop work or general admin, and most importantly as listeners.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has been a listener for Samaritans UK and is interested in joining us – we will provide refresher courses. New recruits all undergo extensive coaching and development as it is one of the most demanding, yet ultimately most rewarding, volunteer jobs.

“If you think this may be for you please do not hesitate to contact our General Manager stephenbaker@outlook.com at Punta Prima to arrange an informal chat.”
