Man killed while filming Castilla-La Mancha bull run

A SPANISH man died at the Villaseca de la Sagra bull run in Castilla-La Mancha on Sunday (August 9) after being gored in the neck while filming the event.

The 32-year-old had travelled from his home in a nearby village, and was standing in the path of the bull run through the town’s streets, filming it on his mobile phone, when he was “surprised from behind” by a bull, according to the mayor of Villaseca de la Sagra.

“This sends shivers down our spine,” the mayor told press agency AFP. He added that the annual event was a tradition, and that such tragic incidents could occur, but warned that participants could not be complacent.

“Bulls are dangerous animals and when there are a lot of people some don’t pay attention… you have to have your wits about you,” he said.

The young man was rushed to hospital but medics were unable to save him.
