JEREZ will remain as the motorcycling capital of Spain, at least for the next three years, the local mayor has confirmed.

The Mayor of Jerez de la Frontera, Mamen Sanchez, reported that the Spanish Motorbike Grand Prix would be held in the city at least another three years and said work was underway to also guarantee the hosting of the Superbike Championship.

Sanchez said negotiations were in process to change the date of the Championship as last year’s heavy losses proved that fewer visitors were likely to turn up in September.

Regarding Motorbiking World Capital events, the mayor stated that discussions were being held with the federation to organise activities as of November.
