A SPECIAL campaign is being launched in Torrox to ensure sufficient police presence in August as many visitors are expected.
Local Mayor Oscar Medina and Security Councillor Paola Moreno have held a meeting with representatives from the Local Police and Guardia Civil forces to fine tune the special security campaign for the month, including El Morche fair and other events.
The number of officers patrolling the town, with particular attention paid to Ferrara and El Moche seafronts, will be doubled, the mayor explained, as Torrox’s Guardia Civil barracks is one of the few in the area to receive reinforcements from other provinces.
Quad patrols are to be resumed to ensure beach regulations are met, and more officers are on duty in the evenings.
El Moche fair, running from August 12 to 16, will be supervised by a special team consisting of up to 10 officers, assisted by Civil Protection members.
