MANUEL GARCIA PUGA, aged 88, was found dead three days after disappearing from his Almeria City home.
He was discovered only 15 minutes away on wasteland between Camino de La Goleta and Vega de Aca.
Garcia Puga was finally located just as sniffer dogs were about to be used after police on the ground and a helicopter had scoured the area without success.
His body showed no signs of violence and he was still carrying his personal effects. Foul play was ruled out and the elderly man appeared to have died of natural causes soon after going out on an exceptionally hot day.
