Catalan flat: was banned in schools by former government
THE new Balearic Government abolished the ‘Symbols Law’ of the previous governing team without following the proper channels.Jose Ramon Bauza of the conservative Partido Popular introduced a law in 2013 which banned the use of the Catalan flag in schools, which was greatly criticised. One of the first measures of the new government was to approve plans to abolish the law. However, there was no consultation with the Personnel Committee or the Balearic Public Functions Council, experts say, meaning that the plan is defective. It hasn’t been reviewed by unions either.Government sources admit that steps were missed out, but that the plan has now been approved by the Parliament.
