COMMERCIAL units in the centre of Alicante have placed posters in their shop windows protesting against the Rabasa macro-centre on the outskirts of the city that would be located on the site of the planned Ikea store. They say a new shopping centre would “mean the disappearance of small and medium business in this neighbourhood” which would damage the quality of life for residents and traders. The new tripartite government is in talks still over the plans, but traders and neighbourhood associations say they want to be present at any meetings regarding the Rabasa site.
