Pair injured in Barcelona shooting ‘are Belgian and British’

THE two injured victims of a shooting on Barcelona’s La Rambla street on Tuesday (July 28) were Belgian and British, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais’s sources within the investigation.
The Catalan regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra, are currently searching for the suspected shooter, who escaped through the crowded streets in the midst of one of the city’s most crowded tourist spots.
The two men were standing at the door of the Silken hotel when they were approached by the gunman, who has variously been described as wearing a balaclava or a hood by witnesses, who shot at them two or three times. The Belgian man received a gunshot wound to the stomach while the British victim was injured by glass as he broke his way through a door while retreating from the shots.
The police have reported that they are working on the theory the three were known to one another and that the shooting was a ‘settling of scores.’
