MIJAS has announced the launch of two new Local Police force units, one of which will be concentrating on animal protection and rescue while the other will see bobbies on bikes patrolling the coast.Juan Manuel Rosas Torrecilla, head of police at Mijas Town Hall, introduced the units, explaining that four officers on bicycles will be patrolling the busy coastal pathway from 11am to 7pm in an aim to put officers where they are needed and meet demands from local businesses.Meanwhile two officers have been designated to the animal protection unit, which will be working closely with charities and carrying out inspections at stables and other animal-related centres among other tasks.
