Second thoughts on Adra plaza revamp

DIALOGUE: Manuel Cortes (third right) explains alternative plans

ADRA Town Hall has come up with an alternative for remodelling the Plaza de San Sebastian.
Initial proposals were rejected by residents who complained that there would be fewer parking spaces and would entail the removal of an emblematic statue.
They were especially unhappy shifting the statue that commemorates the town’s agricultural traditions but local mayor Manuel Cortes is prepared to modify plans, he said recently.
“Traffic flow will still be improved, particularly for heavy vehicles and the statue of the farmer will be nearer the original site,” Cortes explained.
“The corporation has studied the situation in depth and has expressly taken into account residents’ suggestions.”
