AVE extension is a worrying slowcoach, say Almeria business heads

ALMERIA businessmen lamented the lack of progress on the AVE high speed train.
Chamber of Commerce president, Diego Martinez Cano, and Jose Cano of the Asempal business-owners’ association met to discuss infrastructure and the AVE was high on their agenda.
During the current government’s term in office, work on the Almeria-Murcia route has halted and with general elections in November or December the situation is worrying, the presidents agreed.
“Not one new metre of track has been completed on a project that is a priority for the province,” Martinez Cano said.
“This is something we cannot ignore or forget about, because we are talking about infrastructure that is crucial to Almeria’s economy.”
