Northern Irish holidaymaker found dead in Ibiza hotel

A MECHANIC from Northern Ireland has been found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza just hours after arriving on holiday.
Twenty-one-year-old Alan Drennan, a Volvo mechanic from Newtownabbey, left home for a two-week holiday on the island with nine friends on Saturday and sent relatives Snapchat shots from his flight.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office declared: “We can confirm the death of a British national in Ibiza on July 19. We have been liaising with the Spanish authorities and are providing support to the family at this difficult time.”
Mr Drennan’s father told the BBC his son, who was thought to have been staying at a different hotel from the rest of the group, had not even opened his suitcase.
Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances behind the death.
