SPEED CHECKS: Watch your speed as more radars are put in place for summer campaign (Photo by Nathan E. Photography, Flickr)

MOBILE speed radars have increased on the region’s road. The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has issued the location of the 1,500 stretches of road where there is an intensified surveillance, with as many as 30 mobile radars in Alicante Province in areas particularly prone to accidents.
The speed checks and controls are a bid to reduce the number of accidents as speeding is one of the fundamental reasons for traffic accidents and determines the severity and extent of injury of the victims.
The first phase of the summer campaign ran over the weekend of July 18-19 when it was estimated that 400,000 vehicles would be on the roads.
