Woman killed by her former partner in Mollina

A WOMAN and a man were found dead yesterday night (Wednesday, July 15) in a property of Mollina (Malaga).
Police’s first suspected that the 58-year-old man could have stabbed the 60-year-old woman, who was his partner, and then ended his own life.
The Emergency Services 112 was alerted at around 12.45am requesting psychological assistance for the woman’s relatives.
Forensic doctors at the Legal Medicine Institute have already performed the post mortem examination and a case of gender-based violence murder has been confirmed by the Health, Social Services and Equality Minister, Alfonso Alonso.
The man already had a record for domestic violence and the brother and daughter of the victim claimed they had asked her to file an official report against him on several occasions. The woman had already been treated for injuries related to gender-violence at the Women’s Centre in Almuñecar
The Town Council of Mollina has declared two days of official mourning. Mayor of the town Eugenio Sevillano explained that the two deceased were seeing each other “on and off” and that the woman had been living for months in Loja (Granada) where she worked.
She was said to have been visiting the town of Mollina to see some relatives. She bumped into the man in the street and he invited her to go to his home, to which she consented.
