FOREST FIRE: Seaplanes worked to help extinguish flames

TWO seaplanes and a helicopter were needed to extinguish a fire in the pine forest of La Marina.
The blaze was just 300 metres from the Rebollo beach, close to the campsite and destroyed around 3,000 square metres of pine forest.
Three fire trucks were also in attendance as crews and emergency service workers spent two hours on Sunday July 12, bringing the blaze under control.
Despite its close proximity to a busy beach and campsite, the quick action of the forest fire brigades meant that the area did not have to be evacuated.
Police are now investigating the cause of the fire and the first hypothesis suggests it could have been the result of possible fire recklessness with dirt and rubbish being left in the area that ignited.
