A MEMBER of the Spanish Guardia Civil forces was killed on Wednesday July 15 when explosives he was handling accidentally went off. The accident happened inside a van used by the Special Technical Group for Deactivating Explosives (TEDAX).The 50-year-old agent was an experienced officer with a distinguished career of more than 10 years’ service in Almeria Province. Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernandez Diaz expressed his deepest condolences and profound sadness for the death of the agent.The incident, which is under investigation, is being treated as an accident. The explosion was felt in the surrounding area of the barracks and a large black column of smoke could be seen from far off.
