SPACE exploration has just achieved another first, this time with the first visit to Pluto. Nasa’s New Horizons has rapidly passed the planet at 14km per second, leaving behind spectacular images. The probe, which flew past on Tuesday (July 14) at around 12.50pm, was only 12,500km from the planet and is expected to generate new images of space. This latest milestone is important in terms of space exploration since it is the last of all the nine planets that make up the solar system to be visited by a space probe.
