Dancers bop and don’t drop for Jalon Valley HELP

NON-STOP BOP: Soggy Bottom Band

IT was hot, hot, hot for the Bop ‘til you Drop night at El Cid for the latest of Jalon Valley HELP’s fundraisers, where the community danced and partied to the tune of €600, raised for a very worthy cause.
Even with a 7.30pm start, many guests – including JVH volunteers, their friends and family – were still sourcing their tables in the sun. As the sun set, the drinks were ordered and the fun began.
El Cid provided a wonderful summer carvery, which included salmon, turkey and beef. One happy party-goer commented: “What a fabulous spread. I hope I have enough energy to dance now!” Large dishes of healthy salads, as well as sautéed potatoes and legumes kept the party-goers well-fed and happy.
The music started at 9pm and the ever-popular Soggy Bottom Band pulled out all the stops. After a gentle start, they upped the pace, encouraging the incumbent dancers to really strut their stuff. Once the band geared up to line-dancing music, the Jalon Valley Stompers were quick to take the stage, wowing the audience with their professional moves.
Once the band segued into their own rendition of Mustang Sally, the crowd were up and dancing, happy to Ride Sally Ride, regardless of their Commitments.
The band broke for refreshments and Jalon Valley HELP president, Elaine Horton, took the stage, overseeing the raffle which helped swell the coffers. Elaine updated the audience on the progress at Jalon Valley HELP so far. She was passionate that each and every contribution was important to the growth of the charity, and that each donation helps a person in need.
Jalon Valley HELP would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Charlie and her team at El Cid for keeping the food hot and the drinks flowing.
Jalon Valley HELP has recently purchased a van, as a result of local business donations. Elaine Horton and her team at Jalon Valley HELP would like to thank all businesses involved in this venture. The van is currently being refurbished and will be on the road soon.
