Three people killed in tragic weekend on Vega Baja's roads

ACCIDENTS: emergency services were four road traffic accidents which killed three people at the weekend

THREE people were killed in road traffic accidents over the weekend in the Vega Baja.
The first fatality was in Torrevieja when a 70 year-old man died in a traffic accident which happened when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car. The accident happened at around midnight on Friday (July 10) at the junction of Avenida Maestro Francisco Casanovas with Calle Patricio Zammit. It is believed the motorcycle missed the give way sign and he was thrown from the bike as he hit the car, but police are still investigating the cause.
The second accident happened on the CV-916 in the Orihuela hamlet of La Aparecida when a driver lost control of the car and it veered off the bank. The man was driving alone.
A motorcyclist was also killed after colliding with a car on the AP-7 motorway in the area of Almoradi. Police report that it was a side collision and the age of the cyclist is unknown.
Meanwhile a fourth accident occurred in Calle San Policarpo of Torrevieja when a vehicle jumped a stop sign and collided with another car. The strong impact caused the two cars to veer on to the path with one hitting the side of a restaurant which was fortunately closed at the time.
One eyewitness said the driver of one car did not respect the stop sign and carried on hitting the other. Both drivers escaped without injury.
