The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice to British tourists in or travelling to Tunisia. An estimated 3,000 tourists are in the country and tour operators are arranging extra flights and departures for their customers.
Tourists are being advised to contact their tour operator´s representative for further information. For those in the country independently, visitors are asked to make their own arrangements to leave. Flights out of the country are operating normally. For consular assistance, people are asked to contact the British Embassy in Tunis.
Those holidaymakers who had planned to travel to Tunisia within the next 48 hours are advised to contact their travel company to discuss options. Holidaymakers’ travel insurance policies may be invalidated if they decide to go ahead with their plans. Those with travel plans beyond this time, are asked to wait for further information from their travel company.
Thomson and First Choice have cancelled their flights from the UK to Tunisia for the summer season up till October 31.
