Malaga car park thieves detained

A GANG which robbed tourists in the car parks of Malaga City’s shopping centres has been busted by National Police.
In June, several tourists reported that valuable items had been stolen from their hire cars when they were parked at shopping malls.
In some cases, the victims had been approached by someone asking for directions while an accomplice stole the items, and in others, the car windows had been smashed.
Plain clothes officers were stationed in the car parks, and on June 17, noticed the arrival of three people in a vehicle who parked behind a hire car. When the occupants left the car, the suspects moved their vehicle to the space in front of it, and two of them got out wearing caps and began to look in the car.
They then returned to their own vehicle to get a glove and a wrench, smashed the window, wiped away the broken glass, opened the door and took out a suitcase.
The police then arrested them and seized the suitcase and the items used in the robbery.
The tourists were located and taken to the police station to identify the suitcase and to file a complaint.
The suspects were charged with another two robberies, in which they had stolen €6,200 worth of goods.
