THE TRIAL against the former auditor of Cuevas del Becerro town in Malaga has been suspended as he cannot be located.
A search and arrest warrant has been issued for the man, who is facing 12 years in prison for allegedly stealing €340,000 from the town hall.
He failed to appear in court where he was due to stand trial last week accused of filling in blank cheques which were signed but not authorized by the local government from 2007 to 2009. They were for ‘urgent payments’ but were allegedly paid to him.
He could be banned from holding public office for up to 19 years and face fines of €5,400 as well as having to pay back the money plus legal costs.
